Mr. Burston has been Area Manager in Grande Prairiefor New West’s operating subsidiary, BearStone Environmental Solutions Inc., since January 2016 and brings over 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry specializing in fluid transportation operations. Prior to joining BearStone, Mr. Burston was an Operations Manager for a fluid transportation company operating in Northwest Alberta and Northeast British Columbia.
Mr. Kerkhoff has been the Area Manager in Medicine Hat for New West’s operating subsidiary, BearStone Environmental Solutions Inc.,since its inception in June 2010 and brings over 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry specializing in vacuum and water truck operations. Prior to joining BearStone, Mr. Kerkhoff was a Branch Manager for Newalta Corporation, a leading public engineering and environmental solutions provider to the oil and gas industry, from July 2007 to June 2010.
Galin has been involved in Vac & Water services since the early 90’s. Galin works hard to manage the seasonal variability of this business by focusing on reducing turn over rate which helps ensure BearStone provides some of the most qualified personnel in the industry.
Mr. Devitt has been the Vice President, Sales and Marketing of New West’s operating subsidiary, BearStone Environmental Solutions Inc., since August 2010 and brings over 15 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining BearStone, Mr. Devitt was a partner of a drilling contractor company operating in Western Canada. Mr. Devitt received a Business Management degree from the University of Calgary.
Mr. Smith has been a Vice President of New West’s operating subsidiary, BearStone Environmental Solutions Inc., since its inception in June 2010 and brings over 25 years of operational and field experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Bearstone, Mr. Smith was an Operations Manager for Newalta Corporation, a leading public engineering and environmental solutions provider to the oil and gas industry, from July 2007 to June 2010. Mr. Smith received an Environmental Technology diploma from Mount Royal College.
Mr. Sibia has been Chief Financial Officer of New West since 2011. Mr. Sibia has over 30 years of experience as a corporate accountant for various private and public companies. In addition to being the Chief Financial Officer of Rand Edgar Investment Corp., a Vancouver-based private equity firm, for the past 20 years, he also has been a financial officer of other public companies including Silver Bull Resources, Inc. (TSX:SVB) and Pender Financial Group Corp. Mr. Sibia has received an accounting diploma from Langara College.
Mr. Kerkhoff has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of New West since October 2010 and brings almost 30 years of leadership experience in oil and gas services. His many contributions to the industry include pioneering a new waste disposal practice in Western Canada and assisting in the development of waste disposal guidelines in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Prior to joining New West, Mr. Kerkhoff was the District Manager for Newalta Corporation, a leading public engineering and environmental solutions provider to the oil and gas industry, from July 2007 to June 2010. In 1999, Mr. Kerkhoff founded New West Fluid Management Inc., a private energy services company which was sold to Newalta Corporation in 2007. Mr. Kerkhoff received a Chemical Engineering Technology diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
Mr. Young has been a director of New West since 2012. Mr. Young’s career in mineral exploration began in the Yukon, where he was first exposed to the mining industry as child. Beginning as a prospector and now an active investor, he has worked in many areas of resource exploration across Canada and the north. He has used these experiences to assemble properties for uranium, gold, diamonds and base metals. Some of the properties and projects Mr. Young has helped build include the Saskatchewan Potash Syndicate, which assembled the largest potash property in Canada, the Saskatchewan Syndicate’s uranium properties in Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Basin and Lithium X Energy Corp., which was sold to Chinese investors in 2018 for $265 million.
Dr. Strother is an Adjunct Professor in the faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary and a special consultant in philanthropy. He co-founded and was the Chief Executive Officer of the world’s first golf fitness and health company and was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Stratimed Ltd., an analytic firm specializing in syndicated third-party reviews in the biomedical and biotechnical sector. Dr. Strother has also been the Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of several of Canada’s largest private and public foundations and charities and managed their institutional funds and investment policies. His funds included the top performing Balanced Fund in Canada. Dr. Strother has lectured at international institutional conferences on asset allocation, performance measurement and fund construction. He is a director and member of the audit committees of a number of public and private companies. Dr. Strother received a Bachelor of Arts degree, Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Texas at Austin and a Doctor of Medicine degree with distinction and the Conn Memorial Gold Medal from the University of Alberta.
Mr. Rand has been a director of New West since 1997 and is its largest shareholder. Following a successful 25-year career practising securities law in Vancouver, Mr. Rand established a private equity firm to pursue investment activities. He currently serves on the board of directors of four public mining and oil and gas service companies and is an investor in a number of private businesses spanning real estate, fund management, mining and technology companies in Canada, the U.S. and Serbia. Mr. Rand’s private investments include ActiveState Software Inc., Hong Kong Construction Ltd. and Pender Financial Corporation. He has also been associated with companies owned by a member of the Lundin Family since the late 1970s. Mr. Rand received a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Honours Economics and Major Accounting) from McGill University, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie Law School, a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics and a Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) from Dalhousie Law School.

Mr. Chase has been a director of New West since 1997 and has over 40 years of senior financial management experience. He was Chief Financial Officer for a number of companies whose activities included: investment, merchant and commercial banking, oil and gas exploration and development, mining exploration and development, forest products and port terminal operations. He is currently a Director of Orca Gold Inc. (TSXV: ORG), a mineral exploration company. He graduated as a Chartered Accountant in 1969.
Mr. Broshko has been the Executive Chairman of New West since June 2017. He is the Managing Director of Rand Investments Ltd., a Vancouver-based private equity firm. Previous to that, Mr. Broshko was the Chief Executive Officer and then Executive Chairman of a public biotechnology company and a corporate and securities lawyer with a prominent Vancouver-based law firm. Mr. Broshko received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, a Juris Doctor degree from Dalhousie Law School and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of British Columbia.
